WINES BY AZIMUT

THE STORY

Azimut is a Penedès wine project created by the Suriol family as a link between local growers and the people drinking the wines. Grapes from neighbouring families are brought together at the Suriol cellar in Alt Penedès, with the focus kept firmly on regional varieties and the character of the area.

The idea behind the range is simple: fresh, energetic wines made for everyday drinking, with an easygoing Mediterranean feel rather than a heavy or overly technical style.

THE VINEYARDS

Azimut works with classic Catalan grapes such as Macabeu, Xarel·lo, Parellada, Garnatxa and Ull de Llebre, alongside varieties including Sumoll Blanc and Malvasia de Sitges.

The grapes come from Penedès growers connected to the Suriol family, allowing the range to reflect different parts of the region while keeping local varieties at the centre. The collection moves between white, skin-contact and red wines, as well as traditional-method Cava.

IN THE CELLAR

Fermentations begin spontaneously with native yeasts. Stainless steel and underground concrete tanks are used throughout the range, helping preserve freshness and clarity.

The still wines are handled minimally, while the Cava completes its second fermentation in bottle, spends time on the lees and is disgorged without dosage. Only a small amount of sulphites is added at bottling, keeping the wines direct, lively and easy to drink.
