WINES BY RASPINI

THE STORY

Raspini is a tiny family-run winery in the Kaiserstuhl, founded by Roberto and Sonja Raspini. Roberto grew up in Sicily and later studied viticulture and oenology in Sicily and Andalusia before eventually settling in Baden. Together with Sonja, he released the first Raspini vintage in 2021.

Working at a very small scale allows them to stay closely involved in every part of the process, from pruning and vineyard work to harvest, cellar work and bottling. Each wine is shaped directly by their own hands rather than by a larger production structure.

THE VINEYARDS

The estate works with a little over one hectare of vines across several sites in the Kaiserstuhl, including Eckartsberg in Breisach, Fohrenberg in Ihringen and Käsleberg in Oberrotweil.

The vineyards sit on the volcanic soils that define much of the Kaiserstuhl landscape. Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir make up the core of the plantings. Everything is worked by hand, yields are kept low and all grapes are harvested manually.

IN THE CELLAR

The cellar approach is patient and restrained. Fermentations begin spontaneously, while the wines mature mainly in older barrels. Gravity is used wherever possible to move the wine gently through the cellar.

The wines are bottled without fining or filtration, with no unnecessary additions or stylistic corrections. The result is a range of dry, textured and precise wines, with Pinot Blanc at the centre of the estate’s identity and the volcanic character of the Kaiserstuhl running through the wines.
