PERSONAL TASTING NOTES

Fresh and expressive, with citrus on the nose followed by tropical fruit. The palate is dry, with white-fleshed fruit, exotic notes and a long fruity finish, ending on a clear salty touch.

VINIFICATION METHOD

Made from 75% Grenache Gris and 25% Muscat à Petits Grains from vineyards around Espira-de-l’Agly and the foothills of the Catalan Corbières, on clay soils over a karstic plateau. The grapes are hand-harvested in the morning in 11 kg crates, directly pressed, then fermented at low temperature to preserve the aromatics. The wine is aged in stainless steel and bottled in January, with 3 g/hl of sulphur added at bottling.

MEET THE WINEMAKER

LA CAVE AUX FIOLES

La Cave aux Fioles is the Roussillon project of Carlos Badia, based near Espira-de-l’Agly, north of Perpignan. After around thirty years working in the wine world, Carlos began making his own wines in 2016 and officially launched the domaine in 2019.

The playful names and labels reflect his personality, while the wines themselves follow a direct, personal vision of Roussillon.
